Where does CBD Oil come from?
Before you buy CBD Oil we find it important to inform our clients about the history (origins) of CBD Oil. Because CBD oil is extracted from the marijuana plant there is a lot of confusion about whether CBD oil makes you high, and if CBD oil is legal to use and therefore order it to your home address. Also, it is still unclear if CBD oil can be used as a medicine or cure for certain ailments. For now, CBD oil products are sold as a supplement instead of a medicine despite the huge amounts of positive reviews and recent studies on the use of CBD oil. At CBD Oil Shop we do our best to point out all available information for our clients so you can decide for yourself. Therefore we strongly encourage you to do a little research on CBD oil and just start using it to experience the health benefits yourself.
Although we now know that CBD is one of the molecules found in the active compound of Cannabis, Δ-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol as it is known by scientists contains CBD molecules that work together to bring about the psychoactive effect (THC) then neutralize it and bring the onset of physical effects such as appetite or couch-lock (CBD).
Thanks to the studies taken place in 1940 at the University of Illinois in the Department of Chemistry, we found out that CBD was a molecule that could be isolated, although at the time the effects of CBD were unknown since the investigators had deemed the substance toxic.
Forward to 1963 where investigators at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem determined the exact structure of Δ-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol and isolated THC for the first time, thus being able to synthesize both molecules, although it took until 1973 to discover the positive effect that CBD had reducing the quantity and frequency of seizures in animals.
Fast forward now to 1988, scientists discovered the endocannabinoid system and soon after (1990) CBD was discovered to have neuroprotective qualities, this means that the chemical compounds of CBD help reduce the neuro-degenerative secondary effects of ailments
CBD is Safe for Everyone
Although there has a large amount of controversy around the use of CBD oil on children. As it were, hemp CBD oil is still considered by the average Joe as medical marihuana, this couldn’t be more wrong. Thanks to this inaccurate perception, the use of hemp CBD oil on children has become a topic of taboo, with many parents that don’t know any better following along with treatments that are opiate-based and actually dangerous to the child.
The Difference Between CBD and THC
To address the issue of Cannabis oils that may have psychoactive effects (but are totally illegal), there are two big exponents; Rick Simpson Oil, also known as RSO that has a combination of THC and CBD that seeks to take advantage of the “Entourage” effect that was prior discussed.
Another Marijuana oil product that may further confuse the consumer is Hash oil, produced from the crystals (or trichromes) found on Marijuana plants, then concentrated and compressed to make a strong oil (over 30% content) that has similar properties as the RSO but just like it, happens to be completely illegal in Europe and somewhat legal in the United States of America depending on the cannabis legalization status valid in the state.
All of our pure CBD oil products are made from fibrous cannabis (hemp) that has a percentage of 0.2%, therefore legal in Europe and other parts of the world where THC is illegal. It also contains the highest amount of terpenes and terpenoids that lend other beneficial health effects to our CBD hemp oil.
It is very important to note however, hemp CBD oil is produced from hemp that is naturally low, then when the hemp CBD oil is extracted through the CO2 Supercritical method, this naturally isolates the CBD molecules and the content is further reduced in the cannabidiol oil.
Thanks to this, hemp CBD oil is completely legal and safe to consume by anyone, including children, the elderly and small animals without any risk or danger of toxicity or secondary effects that other treatments produce, but it is necessary to point out that CBD oil is NOT a medicine or a medical treatment.
The Endocannabinoid System
After the discovery of the endocannabinoid system back in 1988, scientists also discovered that a large amount of ailments could be treated or aided thanks to the endocannabinoid system achieving balance in the human body. Symptoms like epileptic attacks or deep and degenerative muscle pain could now be dealt with in a safer and healthier way thanks to CBD oil.
It is not a secret that many of the modern ailments that we suffer nowadays are a product of the lack of homeostasis that overall leads to the appearance of symptoms and ailments. This doesn’t mean that CBD is a miracle cure, but it helps achieve necessary balance required for the body to take healing measures into its own care.
CBD hemp oil is extracted from the Cannabis Sativa plants bred for their fibers, which has a content of under 0.2% per dry mass. This aspect along with the purity and quality of the extraction method allow for microbiologically pure CBD hemp oil that requires no further refinement.
The benefits of working together with hemp farmers and subsequently the laboratories extracting the oil with CO2 supercritical extraction allow for greener, more organic and sustainable production and extraction methods to give our CBD hemp oil the compounds it requires to be a more effective health supplement.
European CO2 Supercritical Extraction, The Purest Choice
The innovations of CO2 supercritical extractions allow our CBD hemp oils and tinctures to be environmentally friendly while maintaining its effectiveness, significantly reducing degradation or contamination in the CBD cannabis oils. This combined with the fact that the hemp is locally sourced also increases the quality of CBD oils and extracts since it requires significantly less handling before it is bottled.
There have been great advances in the production of CBD rich cannabis strains, some are quite famous like “Charlottes Web”, although there are some which are less known (although highly valued among growers) such as CBD Therapy by CBD Crew that contains 0.5% and 8-10% CBD or the more recent Dinamed from the Spanish seed company Dinafem that has 0.5% content as well but up to 14% CBD, which is practically within the realm of hemp.
Because of these developments, it is also possible for CBD concentrates to be extracted from these special plants that are naturally void and rich in the therapeutically important CBD.
CBD hemp oil has found controversial uses in cats and dogs that have been diagnosed with other degenerative ailments. Although using CBD oil is safe for humans, just like smoking cannabis, animals have different tolerances to cannabinoids. For instance animals like cats and dogs could potentially die from being exposed to excessive amounts of marijuana smoke. They also need reduced amounts of CBD proportional to their weight and body size.
Also thanks to the extraction method, our CBD oils are naturally void of any content. The already low hemp fibers trace amounts are further reduced to create a CBD hemp oil that is safe for children, elderly or adults to consume and legal where applicable.
CBD and America, an Impure Relationship
As a result of Post-War on Drugs legislation around the world it has been established that the miracle hemp plant that can produce medicine, clothing and even fuel has been deemed illegal in the United States of America. All of the hemp grown for medicinal reasons is in Europe. If you were to buy products from shops in the United States they would have been imported, and the purity or freshness of the product is not guaranteed.
The extremely low toxicity of cannabidiol oil would require that you consumed several liters of CBD oil before experiencing severe adverse effects, therefore the concern for how much CBD oil is too much should not be a great one. Quality Hemp CBD oil from Europe retains all of its beneficial effects to the endocannabinoid system while having almost no adverse secondary effects.
Although there has been a recent increase in mortality rates of opiate based treatments, cannabidiol remains a safe alternative to help with some of the ailments. Although it is interesting to note that one of them is totally legal while the other remains illegal in many countries in the world.
The Legal Status of CBD
The long and short of this question is that hemp CBD oil is legal in the states where cannabis has been legalized in the United States of America and is also legal in Europe so long as it is made from hemp or medicinal marijuana that has less than .05% THC content.
For all the other states and countries where it is not legal on paper to buy CBD oil over the counter without a prescription or where cannabis has not yet been made federally legal, ordering hemp CBD oil online from outlets like ours that operate in countries where cannabidiol oil is legal would work as a loophole of sorts to acquire hemp CBD oil in countries where medical or recreational marijuana is illegal.
Hemp CBD Oil Around The World
Although many countries still consider hemp CBD oil illegal, there is no actual government body that enforces the prosecution of its use as a health supplement. Either because the legislation present only applies to actual marijuana flower or extracts such as hash or hash oil, CBD oil appears to be a loophole in the system since it does not contain any nor does it cause any psychoactive effects.
In countries like Mexico for example where marijuana use has been decriminalized, there is still a need for people to register with health and sanitation authorities in order to be able to consume medical cannabis, with cases that include the use of cannabidiol oils, although it is just as simple to order CBD hemp oil from the United States (because of closeness) or Europe (because of superior quality and better prices) and the oils will arrive without any problems.
If you are still unsure if these rules apply to your country, you can also take a look at our infographic on the legal status of hemp CBD oil around the world. CBD Oil vs. Hemp Oil: What’s the Difference?
CBD oil and hemp oil have different scientific elements, but both claim to fight common ailments that are giving the oils a growing fan base.

With marijuana usage rising as more U.S. states legalize the controversial but commercially available herb, a cottage industry has developed around the use of marijuana with various claims of healthy attributes on multiple medical fronts.
Officially, marijuana is deemed as Schedule I herbal substance by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, meaning the drug offers “no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse,” according to the federal government. That categorization was adjusted after the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, which included a provision that separated hemp from marijuana, as noted in the Controlled Subject Act.
Millions of users and a growing number of health specialists disagree with any negative tone, noting that marijuana (Cannabis) has health-improving components that deserve a closer look by the medical community.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, “marijuana refers to the dried leaves, flowers, stems, and seeds from the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa. The plant contains the mind-altering chemical delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and other related compounds. Extracts can also be made from the cannabis plant.”
Virtually all of the health care products derived from the cannabis plant centers around two primary components – CBD (Cannabidiol) oil and hemp oil. Each is used and sold as natural health remedies and, even as they share certain characteristics, they have some important differences, too.
CBD Oil. vs. Hemp Oil
Let’s take a closer look at hemp oil and CBD oil and see how they compare – and how they differ.
What Is CBD Oil?
CBD oil is derived from the Cannabis sativa plant and is known scientifically as cannabidiol. CBD is one of 120 known chemical compounds embedded in marijuana plants and differs from hemp in that it contains Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the primary psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis.
THC levels vary from plant to plant and CBD is largely considered by scientists not to be psychoactive on its own, but foes contain health-improving components that aid individuals suffering from a wide array of medical issues, including high blood pressure, anxiety, and trouble sleeping, among other maladies.
What health care providers want from CBD is the oil – the main component in the growing number of CBD-based alternative health care products on the marketplace.
CBD oil is extracted from the cannabis plant and then mixed with other herbs and oils to create the CBD oils most often seen in health care products and sold to the public, with varying degrees of validation from health care professionals.
What Is Hemp Oil?
Hemp oil is also derived from Cannabis sativa, which contains the chemical element trans-delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the cannabis component that gives marijuana its psychosomatic kick. Hemp oil is extracted from the leaves, petals and seeds from a hemp plant.
Yet Cannabis sativa plants have different levels of THC and that is a major factor in defining hemp oil versus CBD oil. Basically, any cannabis sativa plant that contains more than 0.3% of THC is considered to be marijuana. Anything less than 0.3% THC is considered hemp.
Thus even though Cannabis sativa and hemp a derived from the very same plant species, they are different based on the levels of THC embedded in the plant.
What both CBD oil and hemp oil do have in common is neither is linked to THC and therefore won’t provide that psychological “high” so often attributed to THC.

Instead, the human body manages cannabinoids through its endocannabinoid system, also known as ECS, which can process CBD and hemp oil through the body and is managed by the human brain, which uses cannabinoids to regulate the body’s physiological reactions to the herb, and help better manage key human elements like eating, sleeping, dealing with pains and illnesses, and improving mood.
Structurally, the primary variance between hemp oil and CBD oil is that hemp oil can only be extracted from a hemp plant. That’s not the case with CBD oil, which can be extracted from a variety of plants, including hemp plants, marijuana plants, and select other plants, as well.
CBD Oil and Hemp Oil Potential Uses
CBD oil and hemp oil do share similar chemical attributes and are touted as health care solutions to various ailments. CBD oil and hemp oil are often used as a natural supplement to improve human health in the following areas:
Anxiety. CBD oil is known as a relaxant, with little or no side effects with regular usage.
Depression. According to a number of clinical studies, CBD seems to positively impact serotonin receptors in the human brain, which improves a person’s emotional state and supports better emotional well-being. That’s a helpful attribute for anyone suffering from depression.
Pain relief. Some health experts say that CBD oil can help alleviate chronic pain, primarily by curbing inflammation that can trigger waves of pain on the human body. The oil can also promote better sleep, which can, in turn, fight back against sleep interruption for people experiencing chronic pains, and help cure insomnia in the process.
Skincare. CBD oil is also known to improve a variety of human skin issues, including acne, wrinkles, brown spots. CBD has the anti-inflammatory ingredients to help clear up and prevent acne, while it also has the anti-oxidants to curb aging skin.
Blood pressure. Scientists say that CBD can also aid the lowering of blood pressure in humans, mainly by reducing the body’s systolic pressure in the arteries as the human heart pumps blood. By taking a moderate dosage of CBD oil, some health experts say, an individual can improve blood flow, lower the heart rate and reduce the anxiety the stress often found in patients with high blood pressure.
As a vitamin supplement. Hemp oil, in particular, holds high doses of important vitamins, like Vitamins E, B, B1 and B2. Hemp oil is also an invaluable source of protein and antioxidants and contains high levels of helpful body supplements like potassium, magnesium and fatty acids. (which can also help cure maladies like acne and psoriasis, and is known to improve the human body’s cholesterol levels.
Proper Usage of CBD Oil and Hemp Oil
What are the best ways to use and inject cannabis oils? While delivery mechanisms can vary, the safest and most productive method of taking cannabis oils are as follows:
Ingest the oils orally. CBD oil consumers can also take doses orally, usually by the chewing of hard candy, mints or gummies. Oral usage takes full advantage of the sublingual gland, located right under the tongue, which helps take in the oils faster and more completely, but in a safer and easier manner than injection.
Via beverages. You can also drink cannabis-related beverages (like tea or juices) to intake the oils, but just know that anything that has to pass through the body’s digestive system reduces the bioavailability impact of cannabis oils.
Whatever course you take, keep your general practitioner in the loop and make sure to thoroughly vet any CBD or hemp oil products before hitting “buy” on your phone or dishing out cash at an alternative health product store.
Like any other over-the-counter health care product, CBD oils and hemp oils can vary in the quality of the product, and there are certainly plenty of fly-by-night operators out there looking to rip you off with a no- or low-quality cannabis-based product.
Do your due diligence, read up on cannabis oils, and ask around among family and friends to get their take on cannabis oils they’ve used.
After all, the more research you do, the higher your chances of optimizing your CBD or hemp oil experience.
